Breakfast is served in the Dining Room, offering private tables or larger communal table settings. The large sea-facing patio includes a swimming pool. This area is ideal for quiet relaxation while watching the ships sail majestically past, or the excitement of spotting dolphins or whales in the sea. Watch out for the lunacy of the sardine run from July!! A guest only bar with DSTV for those must watch sports events leads off the patio. On an even more restful note, watch and listen to a variety of local birds in the large garden. Birds on our list include the Natal Robin, Purple Crested Lourie, Thick Billed Weaver, Hoopoe, Brownheaded Kingfisher, Bronze Mannikin, female Paradise Flycatcher, Cape White-eye, Black Sunbird, Cardinal Woodpecker, Goldenrumped Tinker Barbet, Blackheaded Oriole, breeding and non-breeding Pintailed Whydah. The list grows daily. Old tall indigenous trees provide much needed shade in summer for both birds and humans, and act as protection against the sea breezes. On a more active note, Mutchies B&B lies at the heart of one of South Africa s best kept golfing secrets - 10 of South Africa?s finest golf courses ? 6 of which feature in the Golf Digest Top 100 SA Golf Courses - offering excellent golf at affordable prices. The time to get to the courses varies from 10 minutes to Margate Country Club and 1 hour to Umkomaas Golf Club. As there are no facilities for children we regret no children under 12 years. DirectionsFollow the N2 from Durban towards Port Edward. Take the Ramsgate Margate off ramp ? number 29 (about 180km from Durban). Turn left towards the sea, and continue along Alford Road until you reach a stop street (approx. 800m). Turn right into Marine Drive. Either 1. Continue along Marine Drive for approx. 2.4km until the Bistro Restaurant appears on your right hand side. Beach Road is on your left, and Mutchies B&B is the first house on the right. 2. Or continue along Marine Drive for approx 2km until you see the Mutchies B&B direction sign on your left-hand side on Shirley Road, and then follow the signs. |
